MISS JOHNSON'S DEATH
PASSENGER MYSTERY LONDON, Jan. 8 Tt is officially stated that when Miss Amy .Johnson, the famous Knglish aviatri\, who was drowned in the Thames Kst.uary. left, the airfield on .January •">. there was no passenger in her aeroplane. An earlier report indicated that there was a passenger. The (lew of lI.M. Trawler llasleincre, which attempted a rescue, reported seeing two survivors Irom the aircraft in the sea. One, a woman, sank before a rescue could be attempted, while Ihe commander of the trawler. Lieutenant-Commander W. K. Llefcher. lost, his life* in an attempt to rescue |he other.
