The Postmaster-General, Senator McLcay. said the action taken against the stations followed a thorough investigation at the instance of "fine of the fighting services." He said he was unable to give any more information. On Monday Gordon Edwards. 2HD announcer and » Jehovah's Witness, was sentenced to three months' imprisonment for refusing to take the oath under the compulsory military training regulations. A message from Melbourne says the Attorney-General, Mr. W. M. Hughes, announced to-day that the Commonwealth Government closed four commercial radio stations last night because it was believed that, under cover of harmless broadcasts, information calculated to help the enemy and endanger Australian interests was being broadcast.
