A DANGEROUS PRACTICE
Sir, —Recently at a popular bathing beach I noticed a dinghy close to the shore, moored by a three-pronged grapnel. This was some distance from the boat, in about 3ft. of water. It seems to me that to use this type of anchor on a bathing beach is extremely dangerous. Any person who ran or dived into the water might receive a very serious injury from the exposed point .of the grapnel. [ do not know if there are any regulations to prevent this sort of thing, but would suggest to boat-owners that when mooring their craft where people are bathing they use a, patent anchor or even a small weight, which would probably be enough to hold a dinghy in shallow water. This would avoid the possibility of a nasty accident. A. HI.AC KWKLL.
