"TERRIFIED OF RAIDS"
WIFE'S "STORY TO CORONER A woman stated at an inquest on her husband at Walton-on-Thames, Surrey, that he was "terrified of air raid s . The man, Stephen Alison, aged 50, marine insurance clerk, was found gassed, and a verdict of * "Suicide whila the balance of mind was disturbed" was returned. The widow, who lives at C-'aterliam, said her husband telephoned to her and said ho could not stand night raids much longer. He added: "It will soon bo good-bye." Asked by the coroner it her husband had ever threatened to do himself injury, Mrs. Alison replied: "80. had, heaps of times." Coroner: Then it was 110 surprise to you ? Mrs. Alison: It was. I did not think ho had the pluck to do it.
