HUNDREDTH BIRTHDAY

MESSAGE FROM THE KING [bt telegraph —press association] INVERCARGILL, Friday Invercargill's centenarian, rs. Elizabeth MeFarlane, a former Mayoress, yesterday received a cablegram from the King congratulating her on the occasion of her hundredth birthday. The message, which was despatched from Buckingham Palace, read: "The King and Queen are much interested to hear that you are celebrating your hundredth birthday to-day, and send hearty congratulations and best wishes for a happy Christmas."
