Those to succeed were Mrs. F. Wack row, Valerian; A. Walker, Lapidarian; T. Hogan, Kinvara; A. Cook, Joan Peel; and M. 11. Timins, Town Survey. The other, Gay Rosette, is trained by A. C. Jones, partowner, with Mr. K. E. Kelly. SUCCESSFUL RIDING W. J. BROUGHTON IN FORM A feature of the Waipa Racing Club's Summer Meeting at Te Awnmutu on Saturday was the successful riding of W. J. Broughton, who rode three firsts and a second in five mounts. At his first appearance Broughton was unplaced on Purveyor iu the Waipa Plate, and then lie was second on Beau Leon in the Te Awamiitu Cup, after which he won successive races on Joan Peel, Town Survey and Lady Tinkle. There is no doubt thai Broughton is riding in great form at present, and his feat of winning three races ou end is one that is not often accomplished. RAILWAY REIIANDICAP LADY TINKLE UP 4LB. As a result of her victory in the Flying Handicap at Te Awamiitu on Saturday. Lady Tinkle became liable for a rchandicap in (lie Railway Handicap at Ellerslie, and the handicapper, Mr. F. J. McManmitin. has raised her 'lth, making her weight 8.11. TO CORRESPONDENTS "Inquirer," Newmarket. —The Adams Memorial Cup, at Epsom, on June 4, 1038, was IVj miles, and was won by Ironside. The following year, the race was run on May 27, the distance being 2 miles, aiyi the winner Uenuku. Last season it was run on May 25, over lVa miles, and waa won by Bold Venture.
