WAR LOAN INSTALMENT £4O PER CENT DUE MONDAY The second instalment, of £4O per cent, is payable on War Loan subscriptions on Monday. The loan, . which totalled approximately £8.000,000, was issued in September at £IOO per cent and is non-interest bearing up to Octo•ber 1. 1943, after which interest will be paid at the ratp of per cent per annum. THE CITY MARKETS GOOD DEMAND FOR FRUIT Apples were short on the City Markets yesterday, Sturmer and Tasrna varieties realising high rates. Hothouse tomatoes firmed in value, and there was a good demand for choice peaches, strawberries and loganberries. Dessert plums of choice quality had a fair sale. With the exception of carrots, most vegetables were in good supply, and green peas, marrows, onions and cucumbers sold at reduced rates. Very low prices ruled for potatoes and lettuce, which were in heavy quantities, but high values were realised by quality lines of cabbages.
