TAKANINI GALLOPS

SURPAI MUCH IMPROVED GOOD EFFORT WITH NAMARA MYSITO DEFEATS CORNISH Some Takanini candidates for the Whangarei meeting were given a final gallop before entraining yesterday, and among those to please were Surpai and Namara. The best efforts of the morning were credited to Mysito, .Ma/.ir, Orelio and Arvaknr. The hurdles were 20ft. from the rails. Full Hand (Smith) finished better than Ynlamifo (McMinn) over seven furlongs, but this gallon could not bo timed. owing to an early fog. Surpai (Bieguely) and Namara (Gray) were sent six furlongs on the plough, both going particularly well at the end to record I. is. Surpai is working in greatly improved style, and is likely to race prominently in the north. The Dozer (Duncan) ran six furlongs on the plough easily in 1.25, Princess Yal (Coleman) taking 1.19, and Lovaals (Coleman) 1 .21. The two-year-old Route March (Jackson) was on terms with Proud Fox (Smith) at the conclusion of half a mile in 50 3-ss, Cambria (Jackson) ami Borak (McMinn) doing almost as well by running 50 -l-ss. Ncttarion (McMinn) and Himalaya (Smith) took 5-is. Mazir (Petley) surprised by decisively defeating Te Kawiti (C'oker) over six furlongs in the tiest time of the morning. At no stage did Te Kawiti appear likely to extend Ma/.ir, who crossed the line four lengths in front in 1.15. (lien Conn.>ll (Mclnallyl showed to advantage by running six furlongs in 1.17. Silver Clarion (Coleman) and Miss (Jay (Potley) were sent four furlongs, the la si three taking 38 3-5s Mysito (Smith) finished four lengths in front* of Cornish (Jackson) at five furlongs in I.'J 1-5, Cornish apparently suffering a temporary lapse, although this did not detract from "the performance of Mysito. Orelio (McMinn) was always going better than Arvakur (Smith) over five furlongs in 1.3.
