CHEQUE FOR WOOL
THE SECOND APPRAISAL TOTAL OF £229,125 PAID AVERAGE PRICES HIGHER Cheques totalling £229.125 have been distributed to sheep farmers throughout the Auckland Province as proceeds of tile f.econd Auckland wool appraisal of the season, which was held between November II and 18. A total ot 12,878 hales was appraised, the net weight ot wool being 4 ,:>8G,7781b. Average prices were £l7 15s JOd a bale and 12.51 d per lb. These prices are higher than the first: appraisal, which was commenced on October 24, The average prices then were £l7 Is 4d a bale and 12.21(1 per lb. The total cheque for the two appraisals so far this season is £.'W8,717. The speed with which the appraisal of wool is being carried out this season is illustrated by the fact that already 19,24.'i bales have been dealt with. In normal seasons, brokers consider it very satisfactory if 20.000 bales can be offered at the first fixture in the last few days of November. Appraisements are being carried out so expeditiously that the third fixture of the season will commence tomorrow It is estimated that between 1 .'I,OOO and 14,000 bales will be available.
