RECENT GIFT TO CITY The 12 English and Dutch oil paintings of the 17th and 18th centuries, lately presented to the city by Dr. H. Wansey Bayly, of London, .riid which have been undergoing restoration, are now on view in the Art Gallery. In their new surroundings, the pictures have confirmed the good opinions formed of them when they arrived from England, and it is agreed that Dr. Bayly's gift is an important addition to the municipal art collection, especially from the educational point, of view. The portraits attributed to Yandyek, Lely and Hoppner and the two i7Mi century Dutch landscapes have already attracted a great deal of interest.
