CLAY-BIRD SHOOTING
RE ID CUP COMPETITION [FROM OT7R OWN CORRESPONDENT] HAMILTON, Monday The Reld Cup match hold on Saturday at the Hamilton Gun Club's grounds was competed for by teams from Auckland, Goldfields, Morrinsville, Matamnta, Rotonia, Cambridge, Waipa, Otorohanira, Hamilton (A and B teams) and a scratch team, representing Taumarunui. The trophy was donated by the late Mr. R. T. Reid, president of the Hamilton Gnn Club for many years, and is one of the most valued cups for clay-bird shootinsr in the Auckland Province. There were 11 teams consistinK of seven men each, with 15 birds to each man. The shoot was of five tracks, from 10 yards. The results were:—Hamilton B, 92; Hamilton A. Goldfields, Otorohanga, equal, 60; Auckland, Botorua, equal. Sit. In the eye-opener event there were five birds, and 25 competitors divided the sweepstake. The handicap match was won by T. M. Glenn, who took the prize money of £SO. C. Thomasen. C. Seddon, X. Pearson, K. .Monteith, \V. 0 Kane, P. Lindsay, L. Bedford, J. Sinton, T. McCready, F. Buckley and ,T. Parkinson divided the second and third prizemoney. The optional sweopstake was divided between H. W. Carter and C. Tomlinson, with 13 sharing, the third nrize. In a trophy match two prizes of seven and three guineas were offered. Pratt, Monteith, McMSken, Pearson, Turner, Clinch and Billing shot the possible, and in the shoot-off W. J l . McMiken, of Hamilton, was first, with N. Pearson, second. The shoot went a further 23 birds.
