THANKSGIVING SCHEME

METHODIST CHURCH FUND Reference to the Centennial thanksgiving scheme was made yesterday at the session of the Methodist Synod of the Auckland district. It was stated that £43,000 had been raised toward the objective of £IOO,OOO Reports on the examinations and \ravk of probationary ministers, home missionaries and students of Trinity Theological College were presented at the ministerial session. The synod recommended that the Revs. W. R. Laws, A. K. Petch. H Whitfield, H. B. Cochrane and L G Clements should bo passed in thefr probationary year, subject to written examinations being satisfactory. The students to be received on probation are C. 11. Bell, H. K. Brown. H. W. Biirlev. H. A. Darvill. G. V. Thomas and J. H. Woolford. The synod recommended that R. Bell and A. Jolly should be sent to the annual conference in 1941 as candidates for the ministry.
