DANCE RECITAL
A VARIED PROGRAMME SEVERAL ORIGINAL ITEMS CRIPPLED CHILDREN AIDED A large -number of parents and friends attended a dance recital on Saturday afternoon, which was presented by Miss Irene Isaacs' pupils at the Technical College Hall, Welleslev Street. The programme, which was made up of various types of dancing, including ballet, tap and character, and contained nujny colourful and unusual items. Of great interest were the original dances, "the Scarecrow" and "England and France," being outstanding while a mime study, "The Swimmer and the Life Guard" was portrayed with zest and humour. Most appealing of the dances by the younger pupils were "The Blue Fairy Ballet," "Garden Scene," "Tyrolean Dance" and "Under the Umbrella." About lo children performed a group of arm movements with grace and perfect rhythm. Vivid costumes and beribboned tambourines added to the charm of an intricate gipsy dance, by the senior girls, which was a contrast to their delicate interpretation of another number, "Nymphs and Fauns." A feature of the programme was a display of deportment and rhythmical exercises by the "Keep-Fit" class, who later danced a chorus tap ballet. Other wellexecuted items were "Dancing Feet" and "Viennese Caprice." At the close of the first half of the programme, prizes for the winners of the original dance competition, held earlier in the season, were presented by Miss Peggy Upton. Apart from a few recordings the music was rendered throughout the afternoon by the pianist, Miss Calypso Brook. During the interval a collection, to which the audience donated generously, was taken in aid of the Crippled Children's Fund.
