NEW BATTLESHIP COMPLETION IN GERMANY VESSEL OF 35,000 T.ONS • LONDON, Nov. 8 Berlin illustrated papers carry the first pictures of a new 35.000-ton battleship, the Tirpitz, of the Bismarck class. It is one of three originally laid down. Before the outbreak of war four battleships of the new Bismarck class were being built in Germany. They were the Bismarck, which was launched on February 14 last year, the Tirpitz, launched on April 1, and two others, known as "H" and "I," which had been laid down later. The Bismarck and Tirpitz were vessels of 35.000 tons, and plans provided for the arming of each battleship with eight loin, and twelve 5.9 in. guns. Each ship was to carry four aircraft with two catapults. The designed speed of these vessels was probably 30 knots. It has-been reported that the two other ships, "H" and "1," may bo vessels of 40.000 tons, but confirmation of this is lacking. At present Germany's only two capital ships are the Scharnhorst and the Gneiscnau, both vessels of 26,000 tons with main armaments of nine 11m. guns. It is probable that only one of these ships is in commission. Even the construction of four new ships will not seriously challenge Britain's superiority in 'capital ships. CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE THIRD ARREST IN INDIA (Received November 10, 5.5 p.m.) DELHI, Nov. o It is reported from Wardha that Brahmadutt Rainirmat, presumably Gandhi's third nominee for his civil disobedience campaign, has been sentenced to six months* rigorous imprisonment.
