C. B. FISHER PLATE HIGH CASTE WINS EASILY MELBOURNE MEETING ENDS (Received November 10, 5.5 p.m.) MELBOURNE,. Nov. 10 New Zealand-bred horses tilled the places in the C. B. Fisher Plate, the weight-for-age event, on the concluding day of the Victoria Racing Club's Spring Meeting at Flemington yesterday, High Caste winning very decisively from Beau Vite and Beautivre. High Caste was last for the major part of the race but finished all over his rivals and won brilliantly. He also won the event last year. The pace was slow early, the first six furlongs taking 1.18. and the last half-mile being run in I 8; High Caste has now won approximately £23,000 iu stakes. He is likely to compete in the Williamstown Cup next Saturday. Beau Vile had every chance, and Beaulivrc might have beaten him in another I few strides. Having his first start in Victoria, tho Syd- ! nc.v colt Rimveil easily won the Batman I Stakes. Stylish was a good second, and Wari bird finished well for third. High .Road, I trained by the former-Ncw Zealander L. RobI ertson. scored a surprise win in the Fleming- | ton Stakes, leading over the last, half-mile; Spearmain and Ratifier finished well to fill the ! minor places. Pyramus, who was fourth, had ; every chance. '■ A muddling pace spoilt the V.R.C. Handi- | cap, a noted slow beginner Apostrophe acting • as pacemaker. Dashing Cavalier finished well i to win from Wilson, who hung badly in tho j final stages. Collier, a stableniate, of the Cup I Steeplechase winner Solecism, finished gamely j for a narrow win in the Macleod Steeplechase. He won the race last year. Sir Balios was, a good second, and Tornarsuk was a moderate third. Dark David spoilt an excellent, ehahcc by a bad jump at the five-furlong post. Pooka, near the outside rail, led throughout for a surprise win in the Ottawa Stakes. Piccadilly Lass and Pireni, tho minor placegetters. showed promising form. Tho strong fancy Silver Light was disappointing, finishing fjarth. The Western Australian-owned Remarc finished brilliantly to win the Final Handicap. St. Constant also came,with a strong run for second. The Decoration was a good third; Gladynev, who had every chance, was fourth. An inquiry into the fall of Ivy Willonyx In the .Members' Handicap found that this was accidental and that no blame was attachable to anyone.
