Forecast: Winds from a southerly quarter prevailing; strong generally and still reaching gale force in many places between East Cape and Banks Peninsula, but decreasing gradually to-morrow. Seas moderate inshore south of Farewell Spit; otherwise rough to high. Weather stormy in eastern districts between East Cape and Banks Peninsula, with heavy showers: changeable in western nnd northern districts of the North Island, with passing showers; elsewhere fair to fine. Conditions improving during to-morrow from the west and south. Temperatures cold, with hard frosts in sheltered positions in the South Island and with snow on high country from Marlborough northward..
