Bright Ladj also went nicely over three fur Jongs, and Bambury Cross revealed fine speed in a sprint over two furlongs. Ihe trestles were out 601 fc on the course proper, and the going, although a trifle holding at first, was good. Clipper (Coughey) and Veritable (Long) were running on solidly to complete six- furlong's in 1.21 3-5, the last three taking 40s. Clipper has done well since racing at Ellerslie, and he should run prominently in the Members' Handicap. Veritable, who looks very bright, has improved. After taking lis for the first furlong. Pirate King (Vaughan) completed five in !;(! 2-5, coming home resolutely in 30 2-5s over the last .three. Pirate King .has never looked better, and lie should add interest to the Electric Handicap. Valley Maid (Goldfinch) held Vaalsstar (Maria) easily over six furlongs in 1.20, taking 42 4-5s for the last three. Valley Maid, who has improved with racing, was not extended. ' Speed o! Valdene (Peters) pulled hard in the early stages of a mile, but was steadied to come home the last three furlongs nicely in ll 4-ss. She is very fit and appeared to relish tho easy ground. Kaalooa (Gillan) was not extended for the first half of a six-furlongs task, but sprinted the last three in 11 l-ss. She has furnished with a little Tacing and is making good progress. Korotangi (Stewart) was not set a serious task over a round, averaging 15s _to the furlong on ihe last half-mile. He is a useful typo of three-year-old. Bright Lady Moves Freely Without being hurried at any stage. Bright Lady (Gollop) ran -the last four of five furlongs in 50s. coming home in -lis for the last three. The Sim Flare filly has furnished since racing at Ellerslie. 'She owned by Mr. C. Tt. Powell, part-owner of Krorios, who is also engaged in the Juvenile Handicap. Lou Rosa, who lias raced six times this season and was second to Beau Leon in the Avondale Guineas, looks bright and muscular. Volifox is suffering from a cold and did not make the trip. She has been scratched .for all engagements at the meeting.
