HORSE JUMPS ON CAR
FOUR PERSONS INJURED [l'ltO.M OUR OWN COltnrcseONTlKNT] SYDNEY, Nov. 7 After bolting more than a mile and a-half, a saddled horse tried to hurdle a moving car in Parramatta Road, A iti>ut*n. The leap failed, and the horse crashed heavily on the bonnet and windscreen of the car. The windscreen was shattered, and Ihe lour occupants were cul. by flying glass. The injured were: —George fbiiniaford, driver of the car, lacerations and abrasions to lace and head and shock; Herbert William Thomas, severe lacerations to the chin and forehead, severe shock: Mrs. Mary Thomas, his wile, abrasions to forehead and leg injuries; Mrs. Bonus, lacerations to hand and severe .shock. All were taken to the Auburn District Hospital. The horse was tethered outside the Newington Park swimming baths while his owner was swimming. Breaking away, lie raced along Sutherland Street to Parramatta Road, and then into a vacant allotment.
After careering around the allotment, the frightened animal dashed into the roadway, making a long leap from the footpath over the gutter. Mr. Hnnnaford's car could not be stopped in time, and the horse tried to leap over it. The horse was killed almost instantly.
