PRESENTATIONS

A presentation of a cheque from Papakura business people and friends was made yesterday to Mr. B. C. Carpenter, formerly manager at the Papakura branch of the Bank of New Zealand, now transferred to Pukekohe. Tho Mayor of Papakura, Mr. S. Evans, made the presentation. For the past eight years instructor in agriculture at Waikato schools, Mr. J. W. Connell was farewelled by friends in the winter show buildings concert hall, prior to his leaving to tfiko up an appointment under the Taranaki Education Board. Mr. F. J. Farrell, who presided over the gathering, presented Mr. Connell with a case of pipes. A programme was presented during the evening. Earlier this week Mr. Connell was farewelled by the Hamilton fleadmastors' Association, Mr. D. W. B. Ttirney presenting him with a silver clock.
