fixture postponed later THIS WEEK GOOD QUALITY CLIPS The first wool appraisal of tho now reason; which was to have been commenced in Auckland on Monday, has been postponed until Thursday, according to information from the appraisers received by the Auckland Woolbrokers' Association yesterday. The appraisers irill arrive on Thursday morning.
This will give growers an opportunity to send in further wool. The hope that ovrers would take advantage of the postponement to forward any wool available was expressed by the secretarv of the association, Mr. J. E. Connor. yesterday. In most localities 411 the Auckland Province, shearing has only commenced recently in the main flocks, but, given continuation of the present spell of fine weather, operations should soon be .j n full swing. Growers so far have responded well to the appeal to send in wool early, and staffs in tho Parnoll stores have been busily occupied in the past week in classing, binning and preparing the wool. Farmers who are now shearing ar e reminded that skirting is essential, and the place for this is in the shearing shed. "The wool is well grown and clips alreadv received have opened up brightly.said .Mr. F. (1. Binney. the lIP w chairman of' the- Auckland Woolbrokers' Association, yesterday. "Following the mild winter, it appears that the quality of past seasons should be veil maintained." It has been customary for the New Zealand selling season to open in Auckland in the last week in November, and operations this year will commence fully a month earlier than usual. The early date has been fixed at the request of the JVool Control in the United Kingdom The opening was originally set down for November 14. but 011 this date the second fixture of the season will be held.

MR. F. G. BINNEY APPOINTED
LONG SERVICE OF PREDECESSOR
For reasons of health. Mr. B. .1. Mirquot has resigned from the position of chairman of the Auckland Woo!brokers' Association, after holding office for 13 rears-Mr. F. G. Binney. wool manager of Abraham and Williams. Limited, and Wright. Stephenson and Company. Limited. lias been appointed his successor. Mr. Marquet. who will continue to hold his position as woo! manager of the Farmers' Co-operative Auctioneering Company, Limited, was appointed chairman of the association in October, 1927. He has seen periods of wide fluctuations in values, for in 1931-32 the Auckland realisation was little more than £300.000, whereas it has topped the million mark for the last four seasons.
The association has recorded its appreciation of his long service and valuable work for the wool industry, and has expressed its regret at his retirement. /' The new chairman. .Mr. Binney. comes from a family which lias had an exceptionally Jong connection with the wool industry. His father. Mr. G. W. Binney. was one of the members who attended the inaugural meeting of the association in IS9I. and he was chairman from 1903 to 1907. His brother. Mr. E. H. Binney, was chairman of the association for a period during the last war. The new chairman/ commenced work with G W. Binney and Sons. Limited, which was later taken over by Abraham and Williams. Limited
