COMPULSORY RESCUE
A young woman attempting to swim tho swift Niagara lliver from the United States mainland to Strawberry Island, a distance of about a mile, was "rescued" the other day by Coast Guardsmen, states the Now York Times. The Coast Guard despatched a speedboat to the scene after receiving a telephone call that a woman had leaped into the river. The crew found her, swimming strongly and with little concern for the swift current, about midway between tho mainland and tho island.
