OBITUARY
MIJ. FREDERICK DAVYS [from our own correspondent] CAMBRIDGE, Monday The death occurred yesterday of Mr. Frederick Davys, a well-known .Hautapu farmer, aged 83. He was born in Somerset and with his parents came to New Zealand in 1862, in the sailing ship Hanover. The familv lived for some years a:t Thames, and then moved to the Waikato. Mr. Davys and his brothers carried out sawmilling and bush-felling, and in- 1900 he took up dairying",at Hautapu. He was a staunch adherent of the Methodist Church. Mrs. Davys died 21 years ago. There are threo sons. MRS. EMARE PORAUMATI [by telegraph OWN correspondent] ROTORUA. Monday A well-known figure, Mrs. Emare Poraumati, died at Ohinemutu on Sunday morning. She was over 70 years old and was one of the best-known members of the Maori community Her husband, who died some 20 yea£s ago, was interpreter for the Native* Land Court and the Supreme Court, Auckland. A staunch church worker for over half a century, regularly visited the Rotorua Hospital until within a few days of her death.
