MANY TARGETS HIT 1 MILITARY OBJECTIVES PRECAUTIONS BY NAZIS By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Received September 27, 7.20 p.m.) LONDON, Sept. 27 An Air Ministry communique states that strong forces of bombers attacked military objectives in Berlin on Wednesday night. An Air Ministry bulletin states: "From soon afterTO p.m. on Wednesday until the early hours of Thursday morning, heavy bombers of the Royal Air Force kept up a series of attacks on important military objectives in and around Berlin." The principal targets in the Berlin area were the Klingenberg and West power stations, the railway yards at Schoneberg and Charlottenburg, the Teinplehof aerodrome and a munitions factory at Rudersdorf. In all these places direct hits were scored. Night in Chilly Shelters A report from Berlin states that the longest raid by the Royal Air Force kept Bcrliuers in their chilly shelters most" of the night. The raiders stayed over industrial suburbs, except for two waves which flew over the centre of the city. No bombs were dropped and no fires started in the central district. In Berlin informed circles state that the I) ova I Air Force raid on Wednesday night destroyed eight blocks of flats and killed two and wounded five civilians. The Royal Air Force is reported to have raided northern and western Germany, three persons being killed. "The enemy continued its terrorising activity against German civilians, but caused no military damage, either in north or western Germany or in Berlin." says a Berlin communique. "However, there was again a number of dead and wounded among civilians." Schools and Theatres The Berlin authorities have decreed that schools are not to open in the mornings after air raids which last after midnight and have issued an instruction that lost time is to be made up in the afternoons. The public has been ordered not to visit bombed areas. Theatres are opening at 6.30 p.m., an hour earlier than usual. Other Royal Air Force objectives in Germany were railway yards at Ehrang, Hamm, Mannheim, Osnabruck and Lubeck, the river port of Haltern. a factory at Rendeburg, the Yarel aerodrome and the Warnemunde seaplane base. The strongly-defended dockyard at Kiel, in which the battleship Scharnborst is lying, was attacked by a force of heavy bombers. Sticks of heavy calibre bombs fell across the northern dockyard and one of the shipbuilding yards, and a brilliant yellow flash and one big explosion were seen very close to the Scharnhorst. From these extensive operations all the British aircraft returned safely.
