OTAHUHU AFFAIRS

GOOD RATE COLLECTION An improved rate collection at the close of the rebate period was reported at the Otahuhu Borough Council meeting on Monday night. The Mayor, Mr. C. R. Petrie, M.P., said the receipts were over £520 larger than at the same period last year. The formation of a playing area for the Otahuhu Technical High School on the lli acres of reserve adjoining Sturges Park is being undertaken immediately, reported the Mayor. Delay in completing lists of team workers under the Emergency Precautions Scheme was deplored by the Mayor, who urged members to expedite the work. Members mentioned difficulties in securing co-operation of residents, many of whom were said to be associated with key trades and organisations.
