COUNTRY TENNIS CLUBS
To Awamtitu. —The club officially opened its liiio ll season under perfect weather conditions. Visitors from Otorohanga, le Kuili and the surrounding country clubs were present iu large numbers. The president, Mr. l\. V Armstrong, briefly reviewed the progress made bv the club and pointed out the extensive improvement in the courts. 1 lie cluii was in a sound financial position and a substantial reduction in the subscriptions had been made at the annual meeting. Mr. A. C. Thompson, president, of tho North Country Tennis Association, endorsed Mr. Armstrong's remarks and stated that every endeavour would l>e iiunlo io continue interclub matches in spite of the petrol restrictions. Mrs. S. Clark, a life-member and vicepresident. of the club, was then called upon (o hit I lie firs>t bull over the net. Tauhel.—-There was a irood attendance of members at the annual meeting of the Tauhei Tenuis Club. The president commented that the past season bad been very successful both financially and socially. With a substantial credit balance and several new members elected, it was considered that prospects for the coming- season wore very bright.
