GLASSWORKERS' WAGES
ALL-ROUND INCREASE FIXED Wags increases ranging from Is to 12s 4d a week for adult workers and averaging Is 6d over all classifications for youths, in addition to the recent 5 per cent increase granted by the Arbitration Court, have been feed under a trade agreement made after a two-day conference between representatives of the Auckland Glassworks Employees' Union and the New Zealand Glass Manufacturers Company Proprietary, Limited. Mr. C. L. Hunter, liaison officer of the Labour Department. was chairman of the conference. The new scale of weekly wages fixe 3 the minimum rates at £4 18s for operators. £4 15s 6d for assistants, £5 4s 6d for sorters and firemen. £5 os for operators in charge of cardboard machines, £o 2s 6d for operators of rotary choppers, rotary scorer and slitter and rotary container, machines, and £5 for all other workers, including packers and yard hands. An additional Is a day will be paid to workers handling soda ash in bags. 'The wages of youths under 16 and up to 21 years of age will rang® from £1 2s 6d to £3 2s 6d.
