STILL IDLE
MINERS AT HUNTLY STATE OFFICIAL'S VISIT MEETING OF MEN TO-DAY [by telegraph —OWN correspondent] HUNTLY. Friday The intervention, at the instance of the Government, of Mr. C. L. Hunter, Labour Department liaison officer, in the dispute at the Mac Donald and Glen Afton collieries, -which has resulted in nearly 400 men stopping work, was the only new development to-day. No work was done at either mine. Soon after his arrival from Wellington this morning, .Mr. Hunter conferred with Mr. T. Hall, secretary to the Northern Miners' Union. He also met the management of the collieries. In the afternoon Mr. Hunter met the executive of the local union, and their discussions extended over three and ahalf hours. _ ■ln a statement to-night, Mr. Hall said that as a result of the conference a special meeting of the members of the Mac Donald and Glen Afton branches of the union would be held at 10 o clock to-morrow in the Lyceum Theatre. The men would be addressed by Mr. Hunter.
