Rearing Tadpoles
"HEAR ANNE SHIRLEY,—Have you •*-' ever watched tadpoles changing into frogs? Last year I caught two in a pond down near the cow-shed. A kerosene tin cut" down in half was their happy home. In it I put a large grassy clump with duck-weed and buttercup floating on the water. I changed the water everv three or four weeks. At first the tadpoles only grew bigger. After about five weeks patient waiting I went out to liavo a look at them
and saw two tiny legs sprouting from their bodies at the back. Soon rront leo-s appeared too, and the tadpoles altered in features. When they were about two inches in length I took them back to the pond where they were horn. One was a dull brown with a little bit of green on him, while the other was a fresh spring green.
