TAURANGA BOROUGH
[bt telegraph—own correspondent] TAURANGA, Friday
The Tauranga Borough Council resolved to support resolutions recently passed by the Electric-Power Boards and Supply Authorities' Association, that it considered local body elections should be held next May, and that, in the event of the elections being held, the Government make provision for nominations being received a month earlier than at present, in order that the heavy cost of printing rolls might be avoided in the case of uncontested elections. Road estimates for this year approved by the Main Highways Board include a cycle track in Cameron Road, maintenance, and resealing and footpaths. The question of the 5 per cent in--crease in wages was discussed at length, and it was resolved that the increase be paid to all- employees whose rates of pay are based on awards, and that those not on award wages receive 5 per cent on the award basis and not on the amount which is being paid in excess of the award.
