NO PUBLIC MORTUARY

POSITION IN HAMILTON [FRO3I OUR OWN CORR KSPONDKNT] HAMILTON, Thursday "It is a scandal 'that a town the size of Hamilton has not got a public mortuary," sairl Mr. R. Eyre, at today's meeting of the Waikato Hospital Board. "Nearly every other town in the district has one." The comment was occasioned by a letter from the Department of Justice stating that it was not possible to pay tlie board for post-mortem examinations mnde at the Waikato Hospital mortuary. The department had been requested previously by the hoard to pay 10s fid for each examination until a public mortuary was established in Hamilton. The department'stated that there was no authority for making such a payment. Further, it considered the services were covered by the Government subsidy to the board.
