STOCKS AND SHARES
THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE VALUES GENERALLY STEADY While slight weakness was evident in some issues, the trend was by 110 means general on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday, and the tone of the market was firmly steady. Government loans were more active. Banks retained their strength. Both New Zealand and South British Insurances were in keen, demand and changed hands freely at the ruling improved rates. There was some easing in values for breweries. Most of the leading Australian industrials showed a slight downward trend, but Colonial Sugar and A.C.I, were exceptions. New Zealand issues were fairly active, with an advance in Farmers'' Fertilizer.
