MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS
SHORTAGE OF SUPPLIES
- Difficulties in meeting an increasing "demand for pianos and other musical instruments the importation of which is banned are being, experienced in ' Auckland. 'Dealers state that for some time the trade has been meeting the situation with accumulated stocks, but - these are steadily being reduced, and «ome classes disappeared. ' For three years pianos have been increasing in favour after a period during which radio adversely affected the desire for musical self-expression. Now the change is shown by increased prices for second-hand pianos, and the greatly-reduced selection of new pianos available. Such 'instrujnents as ukuleles and guitars are being made in .^ v Zealand, but this is not possible with Jianos. Shortages of piano-aeeordeons armonicas, such band instruments as cornets, trumpets, trombones and clarinets, are now appearing, and there is no slackening in a keen demand.
