WAGES INCREASE

POWER BOARD'S DECISION | ALL EMPLOYEES TO BENEFIT [from our own correspondent] HAMILTON, Wednesday After a lengthy discussion, the Central Waikato Electric-Power Board decided at its meeting to-day that all its non-union employees should receive a 5 per cent increase in their salaries. Mr. J. A. Sampson said farmers should also benefit under any general increase, and until they did so employees of the board not covered by an award should not receive an increase, since it,would mean the burden would be passed on to the producers. Mr. R. G. Young moved an amendment that the increase should apply to salaries up to £390 only. The amendment was lost by three votes to five.
