TAKING OF FLOWERS
HAMILTON DOMAIN BLOOMS [from our own correspondent] HAMILTON, Wednesday "Some people, especially women, just cannot keep their hands off," commented the chairman, Mr. F. A. Swarbrick, at last night's meeting of the Hamilton Domain Board, when the subject of the indiscriminate picking of flowers on domain lands was being discussed.
A report made by the foreman, Mr. H. Dnrrall, stated that ho had caught a woman picking some of the daffodils that are growing beneath the trees on the banks of tho lake. When approached she said sho thought they were growing wild. It was considered by some of the members of the hoard that much of tho picking was done by peoplo who did not think, or failed to see, that it was an offence.
Mr. J. R. Fow commented that if people did not know it was an offence to pluck the flowers growing in tho public parks and gardens, it was time they did, as sufficient publicity had been given the matter. After further discussion it was decided to write to the woman caught, pointing out that the picking of flowers on domain property was an offence.
