An anti-cyclone covered south-eastern Australia and the Tasman Sea. Forecast: Moderate to strong southerly to south-easterly winds, becoming general during the night. Seas rough between East Cape and Banks Peninsula and rather rough north of Kawhia; elsewhere moderate. Weather unsettled in eastern districts ' between Kaikoura and East Cape, with intermittent rain, but improving to-morrow from the south; elsewhere cloudy. Further scattered showers are likely in western districts of the North Island. Temperature cool, with frosts to-night in Canterbury and Otago.
