PRESBYTERY AFFAIRS Satisfactory reports on many activities were received by the Auckland Presbytery at its meeting last night. The moderator, the Rev. D. R. McDonald. presided. Figures for the past year submitted by the Church treasurer showed that for an allotted budget of £4107 the Auckland Presbytery had given £6223. The presbytery requested congregations to observe next Sunday as thanksgiving day for missions. A very successful year's work by the Presbyterian Social Service Association was reported, receipts amounting to £2589.
The Rev. «T. W. McKenzie, of Epsom, now chaplain with the third echelon, wrote tendering his resignation of the charge. A resolution passed by the congregation that the resignation lie on the table for 12 months was agreed to. Representatives of St. Luke's appeared to support a resolution that their minister, the Rev. R. G. McDowall. now on active service as ,n chaplain, he granted leave of absence for the period of his military service. The presbytery approved of this. It was decided to extend an invitation at the next General Assembly for the 1941 Assembly to be held in Auckland.
