STOCKS AND SHARES
THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE BANKS AND INSURANCE RISE The present strength of the investment market again was evident on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday. Business was not heavy, but most of the sales showed advances. Offers for Government loans were lifted further without attracting many sellers. A feature of banks was the demand for New Zealands, which gained further ground in dealing. Insurances also were strong, with New Zealands active at an advance. Breweries were firm. Australian industrials were quiet, but there was no weakening in the undertone. There was a keen inquiry for leading New Zealand issues and Wilsons Cement and Woolworths (N.Z.), were both lifted.
