REPRESENTATIVE PLAY ATTRACTION FOR SATURDAY AUCKLAND TO PLAY TARANAKI The Auckland representative team will play its sixth match of the season against Taranaki at Eden Park on Saturday afternoon. Auckland has gone through so far without defeat, having scored 76 points, against 37 obtained by the live opposing teams. The; scores have been as follows:—Against Waikato, at Auckland, 11—3; against King Country, at Tauniarunui, 10 —10; against Hawko's Bay, at Napier, IS —112j against Waikato, at Hamilton, B—3;8 —3; against North Auckland, at Auckland, 20—0. Only one alteration has been made in the Auckland side which defeated North Auckland last Saturday. L. Colmore-Williams is not available and his place will be' taken by J. Molloy. A. Moffitt (forward) and F. Cooney (back) are also not available, and this brings in three new emergencies, A. S. Coughland and D. Green (backs) and J. Bourke (forward). The Taranaki team contains some wellknown and experienced backs in J. Sullivan, Wetcre and Brown, the fust-named being one of tho best players the province has produced. Whakatane. —Holder of the Hurinui Apanui Sliield since 1032, Rangitaiki lost it to Opotiki by S points to 3 after a thrilling game at Te Teko. For the major portion of the PO minutes Opotiki pressed continuous attacks, its fast-moving inside backs at all times threatening danger, but the last quarter of an hour saw Rangitaiki penning the visiting team in its twenty-five and doing everything but score amid intense excitement. M. Dclamere and Mihaere scored trice for Opotiki. Shecran converting one. Phillips kicked a penalty goal for Rangilaiki.
