RURAL HOUSING
USE OF SPECIAL LOANS Enabling county councils to finance the erection of farm dwellings at an interest rate?of 3i per cent, the Rural Housing Act is being used to an increasing extent in districts near Auckland, according to information received by agricultural authorities in the city. Five county councils were recently circularised by the Auckland District Council of Primary Production, and so far four have agreed to participate in the scheme. Advice has been received by the production council from the Raglan County Council that since the scheme had become more- widely known applications for loans were being received, and there seemed little doubt that over a period of two or three years £.50,000 would be disposed of to good farmers who would benefit greatly from the cheap finance available under the Act.
