' Tho representative attendance of sportsmen at the funeral of the late Mr. E. . Griffith* on Saturday afternoon was evidence of the wido popularity he enjoyed. The pall-bearers were Messrs P. Harrison .(representing the Xcw Zealand Lawn Tennis Association), b. A. Cleat (president of tho Auckland Lawn Tennis Association),. S. Lamb and D. G. Macfarlane (.Auckland Lawn- ienms Association), W. S. Spence, jun. (president of the Kemuera Lawn Tennis Club), and H. D. Brinsdcn. Tho last-named, together with E. L Bartleet and N. G. Sturt, former iMew Zealand and Auckland tennis champions, who were arnonsr tha mourners, was associated with the late Mr. Griffiths in various tournament successes. Practically every- tennis club in Auckland was represented at the funeral and floral tributes came from distant centres.
