WINTER YACHTING
ROYAL AKARANA CLUB Two races were staged by the Royal Akarana Yacht Club on Saturday for its sailing dinghy clni?s, under good conditions. In the first raco, tho wind was steady from the east, but it dropped slightly when it. veered to tho south-east for the second race. Seconds only separated tho placed boats, with the others close up. Tho elapsed times for the first race were:— Lcvebug (scr), 32m lis; Kohu (3m), 32m 31 si Ranger (3m). 33m 275; Ripple (3m), 33m 30s; Pam (4m), 30m 02s; Midget (4m), 38in 7s; Spcctro (Cm), 3Sin 4.15; Pipi (4m), 39m 495; Firefly (7m). 40m 9s. Tho result on corrected times was: Kohu (R. Cranwcll), 1; Rannrer (N. Thorn), 2; Ripplo (N. Kidson), 3.Tho elapsed times for the second race were:—Lovobug (scr), 35m 275; Ranger (2m), 37m 8s; Kohu (2m), 37rn 5Ss; Pam (4m), 3Sm ss; Spectre (4m), 30m Os; Pipi (Gm), 39m 10s; Firefly (7m), 40m 355. Midjjet and Fanny retired. Tho result on corrected times was: Pipi (K. Bercsford), 1; Firefly (R. Blnckwoil), G; Pam (W. H, Oliver), 3. The officers in charge of tho races woro Messrs. W. Curtis and I-I. Hill. RICHMOND CLUB'S RACES Tho breczo from the oast was light, and flukey for tho small-boat races of the Richmond Yacht Club staged in tho St, Mary's Bay boat harbour. Tho elapsed times for tho courso woro:—Pal (scr), 23m 3s; Gazelle (4m), 23m 455; Faun (4m), 23m 60s; Rio Rita (4m), 24m sa; Coquette (10m), 20m 255. Tho result on corrected times was: Coquotto (R. Millies), 1; Gazelle (D. Whiting). 2; Faun (L. Martin), 3. Tho breeze slackened for tho second race and tho olapsed times were;— Pal (scr), 20m 235; Faun (lm 30s), 27m 48s; Gazelle (3m), 28m 15s; Rio Rita (3in 30s), 32m 0s; Crest (3m), 30m 395; Coquotto (8m), 39m IBs Tho result on corrected times was: Gazelle (D. Whiting), 1; Faun (D. Taylor), 2; Pal (J. Cooper), 3. Tho officers in chargo of tho races were Messrs. R. X». Thorpe. R. Scott and C. M. Donncs. WAKATERE BOATING CLUB Keen racing characterised tho events of tho Wakatero Boating Club, hold under variablo conditions. Two racos were held, tho first for junior members and the second an open handicap. Tho Junior race was sailed over a triangular courso of 3y a miles in a full-sail breeze, tho elapsed times being as follows: —Tamuri (scr), 59m Os; Ruru (scr), flOm 28s; Foam (scr), 59m 355; Taihoa (scr), 111 Om 2s; Taput (scr), 111 Om 595; Mercedes (scr), 111 lm 255. Tho result was: Tamuri (R. Haxell), 1; Ruru (I. Hill), 2; Foam (K. C'armichaol), 3. The second raco included three boats from the Taniuki Club, but (he wind had veered to tho south-cast and slackened considerably. Tho elapsed times woro:—Frostbite (2m), lh 21m J'ls; Foam (lm 30s). 1 h 21m 17s; Jennifer (30s). lh 29m (is; Tapui (lm 30s), lh 2»m 43sj Taihoa (scr), lh 33m 10a; Tamuri (455), lh 33m 20s; Supercraft (scr), lh 33m 595; Mercedes (lm 30s), lh 40m 14s; Ruru (30s), lb 46m- Os.
