WAR EXPENDITURE
NO OPEN DEBATE ON ITEMS £37,500.000 IN ACCOUNT [by telegraph—special reporter] "WELLINGTON, Tuesday "It is not proposed to discuss the items of war expenditure in the ordinary course of discussion in the House, but whatever information can be provided for members will bo given during the next secret session," said the Prime Minister, the lit. Hon. P. Eraser, in the House of Representatives to-day. His statement was made in reply to an urgent question asked by Mr. J. A. Lee (Democratic Labour—Grey Lynn) on behalf of the Hon. W. E. Barnard (Democratic Labour—Napier), who had asked the Prime Minister if he would afford the House an opportunity this session to discuss the items of estimated expenditure comprising the War Expenses Account, which amounted to £37,500,000.
