It is a representative quota. Peter Smith, Mute, Ringtrue, Sandusky and Great Jewel are trained in Canterbury, where they have won. Great Jewel heading the list of winning horses for the season with £3OOO. -Haying reached a 4.25 line. Great Jewel may not find a two-mile race to suit him until the New Zealand Trotting Cup in November. J.osedale Orattan's rise to the higher grade has been nieteoric. In a littlo over a year he has advanced from the novice stage to a 4.30 line, and he has prospects of reaching New Zealand Cup ..standard before entries are rfiquired for that event. A good winner at all. distances, two-mile races _will suit him adf mirably. I Kennerley Trio Three Belis, without winning, has eone tc 4.32 at two miles, and with the strong opposi- ~. fion in the Queen Mary Handicap with a 4.32 limit, the contract may be a little beyond him. A high-grade pacer at shorter distances, Threp Bells will have opportunities oh the later days. On reaching a 3.27 line, Lady Vasclyne fcuud it impossible to extend her winnings in Auckland, and it has been decided to leave her in the south after she races next monthShe lias performed successfully at a mile and a-half. and put up smart times, and her second to Molly Direct in tho Luoni Memorial ai Atvapuni in February proved that she has stamina. Lady Vasclyne may go well in the 4.10 Advai/cc Handicap. . !• Kewpie's King is engaged in tho Intro- ' ductory Handicap for trotters, in which ho will make his first appearance at the gaij. When trained by C. H. Goodall, Kewpies King did some of his work at tho trotting . gait, l showing a 2.20 rate up to two miles. He is working usefully for J. J./ Kcnnerlti.y. hut until he has had a race or two there :is the possibility that ho may pace at the start. Chances ol Nell Volo Nell Volo'i return to winning form carl.v this season, after an absence from of - three years, has encouraged P. J. give the -American-bred mare a chance in in highest trotting .class, fcnd she is the 4.38 Stewards' Handicap from 36yds. Nol" Volo may require a race to sharpen er ' she only needs to strike her true form to kte. the best of the southern horses busy. Aen Volo failed/to produce in her three seasons in the breeding paddock. t . ■ Ironside has not raced for some time. V/hon at the top of his form. Ironside raced successfully in the best classes. Ho is 30jds in the August Handicap. • Tsana, who won four races this fleasW t reach 4.33. is on 21yds in-the J rial cap, and lie is a rare stayer. M. Stewart will go south to, drive Tsana, and may leavo pacer there'for further racing. Kenworthy, who was a little unfortunate 'lose his 4.28 mark by a concession s is engaged in the 2.48 class Sciwyn Handi cap, and off 12yds, he will havo to bo con Killer «i. ' - » 41.. Red Flush revealed his best form at t . - tilting and / summer meetings, and ineu Buffered a lapse. Ho appears to como to nan" Quickly, and would only need to be at nis best to have good prospects off tho 4.31 nn . A Good Stayer t Peter Smith did not take long to win handsomely after joining the stable of U. &• 'Maidens at Ashburton. and he has reached a 4-32 niark,./'which places him on the fr°nt_o r the Queen Mary Handicap. He has proved us worth several times at two miles, and nis trainer anticipates that next season in p eter Bingen horse will race in the highest class, _ H ■ . . Ringtrue, who regained form in the Hprinß, has rared fairly consistently since rows - {south. His opportunities at two miles havo been very limited, but, being half-brother to Great Bingen, Peter Bingen and Great larri*h, all fine stayers, the extra distanco should hot be a disadvantage. . . . • onnritisky has also won since being sent to „ Canterbury and, as ho has proved himself ai 8.1 distances, his opportunities at Addington . will -be numerous. Assessed on 4.29. he is4ust. outside the limit of the chief races, bill ' ls ,9" /or a mile and a-quartcr. ; »Vhen he went to Addington, Muto considered by many to have passed his span S«.i ÜBe ' u ' ncss ' hut under the care of D.
