MEMORIAL BUILDING

CENTENNIAL EFFORT PLUNKET AND REST ROOMS OFFICIAL OPENING CEREMONY [from our own correspondent] NGARUAWAHIA, Monday The official opening of the .Ngaruawahia Centennial Memorial Plunket and ladies' rest rooms took place on Saturday afternoon before a large gathering. Tho chairman of the centennial committee, Mr. W. M. Paterson, described how' the money for the memorial had been raised by a queen carnival with such gratifying results that the building had been handed over to the borough council, in which it is vested, free of liability. The history of the campaign was also given by the Mayor, Mr. R. Eyre, after which a brief address was given by Mrs. H. J. Sampson, president of the Ngaruawahia Plunket Society. The official opening ceremony was carried out by Mrs. M. Reid; who had donated the section on which the building is erected. Comprising a waiting room, two rooms for the use of the Plunket Society, and a ladies' rest room, the building is in brick veneer, Moorish style, and is situated at the corner of Jesmond and Prince's Streets, near the post office. The total cost was £BBO.
