THOSE WICKED TEACHERS
Sir, —As a member of tills wicked class of people, I used to think they were rather tame, any masculine firmness being modified by the great preponderance of females. Certainly my friends of the profession are quite loyal, as are the 700 who recently promised to donate £looo—besides presumably paying their taxes and contributing to local patriotic efforts. f The number of "war appointments" in the Education Gazette shows that a considerable number have alreadjchucked their lives into the kitty. For myself, although disgruntled after three years' service in the last war to* find that soldier teachers were awarded one step up the ladder of promotion for each year of service, while those who shirked that service, and sheltered behind us, were aivay up in. the fat jobs by being given up to 15 steps each year. J reported for duty at the outbreak of this war. A fairer method being adopted now only proves the rank injustice of our treatment. Still Patriotic.
