NATIONAL SECURITY
PAYMENT OF NEW TAX INCOME OTHER THAN WAGES When the first instalment of the national security tax on income other than salary or wages falls due on August 1, together with the next instalment of the social security tax on the same class of income, it is stated that those persons who have already paid the latter in full will have to present their receipts to the post office so that the necessary adjustment can be made. No definite instruction on the matter has vet been received in Auckland from Wellington, but it is thought that this procedure will be the simplest and quickest. Lack of information on the point has resulted in numerous inquiries from those people who paid the full amount in May, and it has been asked whether fresh returns will be necessary. However, unless a change is made through instructions from Wellington, the presentation of the May receipt will be all that the collecting authorities will require.
