STEAMER ON MUD BANK

[from OCR own correspondent] \yHANGAREI, Wednesday Owing to a heavy fog, tho steamer Herekino ran aground on a mudbank when approaching the Portland Wharf yesterday morning. Fortunately the vessel was empty and tho tide rising, and the Herekino was floated off undamaged within an hour.

The steamer was coming: in to load cement for Auckland when it encountered one of the heaviest fogs experienced on the harbour for some years.
