GALLANT AIRMAN
PILOT FROM WELLINGTON AWARD OF FLYING CROSS LONDON', July 19 Acting Flight - Lieutenant Patrick Geraint Jameson, of Wellington, has been awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. He discovered and set fire to two four-engined German flying-boats in the Narvik area, and the next day destroyed a Junkers SB. His exploits make a story of sustained gallantry, says a British official wireless message. During the difficult Norwegian operations Flight-Lieuten-ant Jameson led a flight with great determination in the completely
strange country of the Narvik area. The two four-engined enemy flyingboats set <lll fire were concealed against the almost vertical side of the Romsbak Fiord in a position most difficult to attack. No trace of them was found during a reconnaissance shortly afterwards. The following morning he destroyed a Junkers 88 over the Ofot Fiord. During the previous seven months he led his flight with skill and determination both by day and night, often in extremely bad weather, and his example has been an inspiration to the rest of his squadron.
