UNIVERSITY TERMS

NO AUGUST VACATION OTAGO RECOMMENDATION [by telegraph—pr;ess association*] DUNEDIIC, Thursday The Professorial Board wilL recommend to the Council of the Otago University that the August vacation be dispensed with, the winter and spring terms to be continuous. This will enable lectures to cease on September 14 and terms examinations to cease on September 28. Territorials called up for home defence on October 1 will complete the session, thus standing a better chance of being recommended for a war pass in the November degree examinations, for which they will almost certainly be unable to sit. This arrangement is for all arts, science, music, law, commerce and mining classes, and firstyear medical, dental and home science "classes. Later, an announcement will be made with respect to other years in these three courses.
