THE ENGLISH TROPHY WELLINGTON TEAM'S .VISIT CHATHAM CUP COMPETITION The control board of the Auckland Football Association received advice last evening that the Wellington representative team to play Auckland for the English. trophy would arrive on Friday and stay at the Thistle Hotel. Tho sole selector, Mr. F. G. Fullbrook, and the technical manager, Mr. S. Szekany, reported that tho Auckland team was responding well to coaching. The Wellington Association asked if it would bo possible for a match to be arranged between the two associations at a later date in Wellington. It was ngreed to defer the matter until the chairman, Mr. L. Munro, had discussed it with tho Wellington manager over the week-end. A letter was received from the Taranakl Association challenging for tho Flyger Rose Bowl. It was decided to defer making a definite date until travelling arrangements could be inquired into. . Tho senior division committee advised thai it had made tho draw for tho second round of ' the Chatham Cup, which was as follows: —Comrades v. Metro-College; Mount Albert Grammar Old Boys v. Thistle. The board decided that both these games should lie staged at Blandford Park on Saturday week. Several members pointed out the possibility of extra time being necessary and it was therefore decided to draw for the early gnme. This resulted in Comrades v. MetroCollege being 'the early match and it was agreed that it should commence at 1 p.m., the second game to commence at 2.30 p.m. Advice was received from the Isew Zealand Council that, owinjr to working conditions, the dato for tho provincial final of the Chatham Clip to be played at Hamilton had been extended from July 120 to July 27. Glen Massey, winner of tho South Auckland competition, will meet the winner of tho Auckland competition. An application was received from the r\orth Shorn Club that the services of Mr. Srekany be made available for (lie Takapuna Grammar School. It- was decided to refer the matter to the coaching committee, with a recommendation that every effort be inado to fulfil the request. . . Following its gala day for the patriotic fund at Onehunga last Saturday, the Onehunga Club expressed its flunks io the chairman and members of the board who had visited the ground, and also to tho Fixtures committee and clubs.
